St Peter Ad Vincula, Coggeshall, Essex

St Peter Ad Vincula in Coggeshall is a large ‘wool’ church dating back to the 15th century. It was damaged by a bomb in WW2.

There is very little graffiti inside the church, but on a column in the south arcade two deep crosses and two faint faces can be seen.

All the other graffiti is in two places outside.

The stoup on the south wall by the priest’s door has several names and initials with dates going back to the 1940s.

The east wall has a stone frame to an absent monument. It contains several names and initials going back to the 1600s.
