St Ethelbert and All Saints, Belchamp Otten, Essex

The church of St Elthelbert and All Saints stands in the village of Belchamp Otten in Essex near the Suffolk border and in the Stour valley. It dates back to the 12th century and is quite simple inside.

The only graffiti to be found is on the font and the south doorway, which dates to the 15th century. The graffiti is mostly initials with a couple of Marian marks, crosses, a harp and a shield,  There is an interesting name engraved on the font, Enrard hr, 1789. It is possibly a miss-spelling of Edward.
